Celebrating the Schipperke Luncheon at The Kennel Club

At the AGM it was suggested that we might have a Breed Celebration Lunch which includes a tour of the KC Library and Art Gallery. The date has now been confirmed as THURSDAY 6th OCTOBER 2022. Open to non club members who have an interest in the breed.

The cost per person is £45.50 which includes a glass of bubbles, a three course meal with wine, coffee and chocolates.
Please note price does not include travel to London.

The schedule for the day will be:
11:30 Tea/coffee upon arrival at the Kennel Club, 10 Clarges Street, London, W1J 8AB
11:45 Library talk/Gallery tour – tailored to the Schipperke.
12.30 Pre-lunch drink in the bar
13:00 Lunch in the dining room
(Those choosing not to take the tour should arrive for 12:30)

NOTE: There is a dress code at the Kennel Club. Gentlemen are required to where a suit or jacket, trousers and a tie. Similar standards are expected of ladies (a smart trouser suit is acceptable). Jeans, leggings and trainers are NOT acceptable.

There are up to 50 places available.

Breed Appreciation Day



The Schipperke Club are pleased to announce that they will be holding a Breed Appreciation Day held in line with the new Judges Competency Framework (JCF). The day is open to all.

The day comprises of a breed talk aiming to provide or re-inforce the basic knowledge required to establish a candidates/Level 1 Judge’s understanding and appreciation of the breed, in order to take a subsequent Multiple-Choice Breed Standard exam (dependant on eligibility – see below). Attending the Breed Appreciation Day and passing the Multiple-choice Breed Standard Exam forms part of the criteria that will enable the candidate to attain Level 2 status when the JCF goes live.

Subjects covered in the morning session will include a brief history of the breed, function of the breed and its correlation to its confirmation and movement and elaboration on breed specifics to other Spitz breeds. All elements of the standard will be covered, and there will be live exhibits. The exam will be before lunch.

The afternoon session will include hands-on with opportunities for mentoring if required.

Multiple-Choice Exam Eligibility – in order to sit this exam, candidates must either already be approved to award CC’s to a breed or will have to have fulfilled all the entry level criteria (if not approved to award CC’s) which includes the following:

1) Attend a KC Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and exampass.
2) Pass the KC 50 points of a Dog Assessment.
3) Attend a KC Conformation and Movement Seminar.
4) Undertaken 4 days stewarding appointments.
5) Proven interest of a minimum of 5 years in one or more aspects of thebreeding and exhibiting of pedigree dogs.

Breed Seminar 2016

The next breed seminar will be on Sunday 13th November 2016 at Roade Village Hall, Bailey Brooks Lane, Roade, Northampton NN7 2LS.
The day will consist of two parts and Candidates may chose to attend one or both sessions, according to their needs. Numbers are limited and places are reserved on a first come first served basis, although judges currently on the club’s lists will be given priority.

José MacDonald of Stoke Golding. Former teacher of St Margarets Primary School and well known Judge for Great Danes and Schipperkes. Passed away peacefully in University Hospital Coventry on 28th April 2016 aged 81 years. Funeral Service to take place at the Heart of England Crematorium on Friday 20th May at 3.00pm.
