Schipperke Club Open Show 16th October 2021

I would like to thank the Schipperke Club for inviting me to judge their Open Show. I had an enjoyable day and would like to thank my hard working steward Beryl Bradford.

Puppy Junior Dog (1)
1. Massey’s Ristine Sunny Jim. 8 months gold boy, with a pleasing shape and well demarked coat pattern. His head is beginning to break and he has a good stop and well placed ears. . Nice to see a dark nose on a cream. A lively puppy who showed he could stand foursquare ,when he wanted to, and was attentive to his handler. He moved briskly around the ring. Best Puppy Dog.

Special Yearling Dog (1)
1. Massey’s Ristine Magical Spice . Another cream from this owner, this time a 23 month old with a natural bob tail, who is developing nicely. Typically cobby in body, with a good depth of chest, and straight topline, a nice short loin which has a good tuck up. Looks like he is coming back into coat but still shows sufficient coat demarcation. He has a nice head, with that foxy expression, but slightly rounder in the eye, good pigmentation and his ears were of a good size and balanced with his head. Moved with a short brisk gait around the ring. Promising youngster. Best Any other Coloured in Show.

Post Graduate Dog (2, 1 abs)
1. Wilson’s Schipdale Nightfall. Smart black dog, who has lovely balance to his shape. Nicely constructed front assembly, good shoulder placement and elbows tight to chest. Lively and attentive he has nice straight legs when standing and good movement when he settles. Neat feet. His coat has good demarcation, is quite long but has good texture. He has a lovely masculine head with nice oval eyes and good-sized, well-placed ears .

Limit Dog (3)
1. Mance’s Blitzstan Teller of Tails with Ryeman. Caught my eye when he entered the ring with his typical cobby Schipperke outline. Lovely coat with good demarcation. Masculine head with good proportions, nicely shaped eye and well-set ears. Sufficient length of neck meeting good shoulder placement, a little wide in front which shows in his movement coming towards. Saying that moved well going away.
2. Wearing’s Blackshuck Blue Saphire with Miofrey. Slightly longer cast than 1 but has a pleasing shape and good coat pattern. Good forequarters and well placed shoulders. Masculine head and neat ears but with a slightly rounder eye. Moved well when settled.
3. Massey’s Ristine Tweedledee Smaller all over than previously placed, but showed in good condition, with good fitting coat with good coat pattern. Nice shoulder placement, depth of chest and tight elbows, but a littler longer in loin. Nicely balanced head with neat well-placed ears, eyes a little rounder than 1. Well-schooled, stood four-square, attentive to his handler when moving.

Open Dog (5)
1. Forknall’s Avidore Putin On The Style. Beautifully balanced in profile square in shape and with all the coat furnishings expected of a Schipperke. His head is masculine with well proportioned skull, moderate length muzzle with a good stop, well filled under his oval eyes. Good neat ears, well placed on his head. Good angulations to front and rear, stands four-square. Moved briskly around the ring when settled. Pleased to award him Res Best Dog.
2. Cheatham’s Ch Scipdale A Kind Of Magic. Smaller than 1 but another excellent type, well balanced with good construction fore and rear. Nice head with foxy expression, neat ears, preferred eye shape of 1. Not in the best of coats today, but could see he had good demarcation coat pattern. Moved briskly around the ring on neat feet.
3. Brooks & Davis’ Deakie Donnie Dinnie. Another that has blown his coat, but remains of coat demarcation still visible. Square in shape, with sufficient angulation. Masculine head but not coarse. Movement good.
4. Mance’s Ch Ryeman Robin
5. Brooks’ Fandal’s Viljam at Ridgebrook NBT (Imp)

AOC Open Dog (1) 1. Massey’s Ristine Magical Spice – See Special Yearling Dog

Veteran Dog (1)
1. Cheatham’s Ch Aradet Action Man ShCM. 8 years old, a small cobby dog with typical Schipperke outline and displays that desired pear shape when viewing from above. In good coat displaying fine frill, cape and culottes. Lovely head, neat ears. Well-schooled, stood four-square and moved briskly around ring.

Vintage Dog (1)
1. Ch Aradet Expert Timing AWS. 10 years old and he does not show it. A bright, lively alert vintage Schipperke with a good square outline. Good coat demarcation and texture. Lovely masculine head, well balanced, with the desired foxy expression, good shape to the eyes and ears. Well-constructed body, straight front and sufficient angulation to the rear. Moved with drive around the ring. Was pleased to award him Best in Show and Best Veteran in Show.

Puppy Bitch (2, 1 abs)
1. Wilcox’s Dencas Come Dance With Me. A lovely puppy, with a lovely square outline, lacking in coat today but can still see that her coat demarcation is there. Standing four-square she is well schooled and lovely to go over. With a good spring to the rib, length of loin and well developed rear. Good shoulder placement and nicely angulated rear. She has the most feminine of heads with a twinkle in her eyes and that foxy expression. Her ears are neat and well set on top of her flat skull. When she moved it was with a short brisk stride with parallel legs fore and aft. Was pleased to award her Best puppy in Show.

Junior Bitch (3, 2 abs)
1. Wearing’s Tredreas Magic Moment. Intensely lively and alert this superb young bitch took my eye as soon as she entered the ring as she is of such good breed type. Nicely balanced throughout, good cobby body shape, with a well-fitting coat, and standing true, four-square. Her head is very feminine with a good flat skull, and muzzle of moderate length. Eyes are more oval then round and show keen lively expression. This is all topped with well-set ears to complete the balance of her headpiece. Although a little unsettled on the table I was able to go over her and find that she had good shoulder placement a nice spring to her ribs and tight elbows. She has a good length of loin, good rear angulation leading to short straight well let down hocks. She moved with a purpose around the ring, with brisk short steps. I was pleased to award her Best Bitch and Best Opposite Sex in Show.

Post Graduate Bitch (1)
1. Fellow’s Blackshuck Tangerine Dream. This young lady left her coat at home today and so she does not look at her best. Tall in the leg and slightly longer cast she lacked that typical outline. She was unsettled on the table, not used to being examined on the table. She has a nice spring to her rib, but lacks depth in chest, elbows could be tighter. Loin could be shorter, pasterns OK hocks well let down. Her head was her best feature, being feminine with well-set ears and lovely shaped eyes. Once settled on the floor she moved OK.

Limit Bitch (2)
1. Fellow’s Blackshuck Scarlet O’Hara. Lovely cobby shaped bitch, between coats today but this does not distract from her lovely shape. She has a beautiful head with a flat skull, moderate length of muzzle, lovely shaped eyes and neat, well-set ears. A little unsettled when on the table but when examined she was sound in construction, good depth of brisket, tight elbows flat topline but could have better angulation to pasterns. When settled she moved out with short brisk steps. Pleased to award her Reserve Best Bitch.
2. Forknall’s Blackshuck Purple Audace at Avidore. Litter sister to 1 and a little larger in size but a good breed type nevertheless. Another with no jacket but you can see a clear demarcation of coat pattern. Lively on the table but was able to tell she was sound in construction, with better rear angulation than 1. Lovely head with dark eyes and neat well placed ears. Movement OK.

AOC Open Bitch (1)
1. Forknall’s Schojan Reve D’Or At Avidore. This bitch is over 8 years old but you would not know it. Gold in colour she is cobby and has a lovely shape. Well fitting coat with good demarcation. Nice shape to the head, flat skull and moderate muzzle, pleasing eyes and neat ears but would prefer a blacker nose. A little overweight but ribs well sprung, good depth of chest and tight elbows. Straight back leading to short loin, sufficient rear angulation. Moved well.

Veteran Bitch (2, 1 abs)
1. Forknall’s Schojan Reve D’Or At Avidore – See AOC Open.

Vintage Bitch (1)
1. Forknall’s Ch Avidore Hot Gossip. At thirteen and a half she is beginning to show her age and we can forgive the extra weight she is carrying today, but she still has that typical schipperke outline. She has typical breed characteristics being small, cobby, active and has that sharp foxy expression. Going over her does not disappoint, lovely head with dark well shaped eyes, small neat ears. Goo d length to her neck leading to correct shoulder placement, good depth of brisket, tight elbows and good spring of rib. Short loin leading to nicely angulated pasterns, short hocks and neat feet. Moves well for her age, one of my favourites and pleased to award her Best Veteran Bitch.
